The Library  Board meeting

We just had another board meeting. We are happy to welcome two new members on our board: Mavis Nugent, who works in the English Dept at IBM, has agreed to take on the duties of secretary. Art Fell, a business lawyer who just retired and is settling down in Montpellier after a career in Paris and overseas, has kindly agreed to be responsible for public relations. If any other members would like to be more active in our association, we welcome your ideas and your presence. We can always use all the help we can get. At our meeting we discussed the new membership fees (see below), the inventory, cataloguing, orientation of the periodical collection, and the financing of the FOAL web site.

Newsletter

The newsletter is now e-mailed to almost every one! Drop us a line at friendsamlib@hotmail.com and we will add your name to our list.

Membership Fees

Although FOAL membership fees haven't changed since 1990, the passage to the euro requires certain modifications in our accounting. Please note the new fees:

Children/students : 20 euros / 130F
Adults :                 30 euros / 200F
Patrons :               40 euros / 260F

Summer hours

This year's summer hours will be complicated; but you can already note that from May 21st we'll be open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. (because of the heat in the afternoon)

We will close for the summer on July 14, and will re-open on August 29. (more details later)

Word for Word

Once more we had a wonderful time with the Word for Word company. The Bunchgrass Edge of the World is a great short story to read, but to see and hear it was an incredible experience. Every year the audience is bigger and more enthusiastic. We'll do it again next spring!

General Assembly

The next general meeting of the Friends has been tentatively set for Thursday October 4. On the agenda will be Board elections, the financial report, a summary of the year's activities, and discussion of next year's projects and activities. More detailed information will be announced as the date draws closer.
