What's New?
WELCOME BACK (AGAIN...)
As many of you may know, a deadly
tornado swept through our neighborhood on September 20th and the library
building was not spared. The storm destroyed part of the roof and the
entire library complex was forced to close for repairs. Fortunately, our
part of the building was not touched and the library was able to re-open
on Thursday, October 12th. Françoise is eagerly
awaiting your visit.
LIBRARY NEWS
The Library has acquired many new works
of fiction and non-fiction. Among them are:
Mary Higgins Clark - Before I say
goodbye
Dick Francis - Second wind
Bill Bryson - Down under
Joanne Harris - Chocolate and Blackberry wine
J. K. Rowling - Harry Potter and the goblet of fire
Arturo Perez-Reverte - The fencing master
and the latest by Sue Grafton, John Updike, Sue Townsend, Jonathan
Kellerman, Philip Roth, Michael Cunningham and Pat Barker
The books and related materials for
this year's CAPES-Agrégation program have arrived and are on a special
shelf near the circulation desk.
Françoise has added new shelves that
have made it possible to move the archived literary magazines back with
the main collection (they were in storage three floors away).
The Friends of the American Library
association continues to make a considerable contribution to the
collection and many of its loyal members play a vital role as volunteers.
We would like to express our gratitude to ALL of our faithful
Friends!
Please visit soon and often!

To
all American Citizens in France:
On November 7th, United States voters will elect the first President of the new millennium. As American citizens living abroad, you have the right to participate in this election. With the increasing influence of U.S. policy on
international affairs, Americans carry a heavy burden of responsibility no matter where they currently reside. Therefore, I strongly urge you to register to vote without delay.
You will find information about all of the candidates
here, as well as links to each party's web site.
American citizens may register as absentee voters in their last place of residence in the United States. Please register early since some states may require that you have your registration form notarized (at a US consulate or at the Embassy in Paris).
For a direct link to the necessary voter registration forms on the Web

here.
For further information about the
Presidential and statewide campaigns, please visit the American Library and
consult the news magazines and other periodicals.
Please visit the library soon and
often. Françoise will be delighted to see you.
